Many of you are starting your first day's of student teaching. Some of you are in workshops, others are in the classroom. Take time for yourself each day. Read a chapter in a leisure book, take the dogs for a walk or have a cup of tea. Teaching is a challenging profession filled with hundreds of decisions each day. There is a good reason why at 4 o'clock you may wonder where your "energy" went.
Check this website for Tips for the first days of class. I am going to create a "Teacher's Lounge" page for us this semester, where you can post questions to each other and offer ideas and suggestions. You will also have an opportunity to meet "live" either face to face on campus or via webex during the semester. Our first face to face session (0ptional) will be September 15 - at 6. This later time will allow for transition from school to come to Bemidji or link with us remotely via webex. Specific information regarding webex links and campus room will be posted later on our home page and via group emails.
To set up your "blog" link to the set up blog site. To create "collaborative " documents read the link regarding "sharing" google documents. When sharing materials for the course remember to use the course email bsu.ed4800@gmail.com. Miss Hinkemeyer has agreed to share her first entries for her student teaching blog. Take a look at how she has added pictures, shared information about her school, added "links" to her school, etc. Remember that when you create your site, that some "features like followers, etc. " can be removed from your site by "selecting" the tool icon and selecting remove/save. Thank you Miss Hinkemeyer for getting us off to a great start. As the rest of you share your blogs with me, you may be asked to share your sites as well. Sharing your site is optional.
Your first assignment is due at the end of your first "4 weeks" of student teaching. Note many of you have variant start times....so determine when materials are due based on your personal start time....take the date of your start...4 weeks later would be when you would turn in your first assignment and so on.
Good luck with your first days, assignments are found in the syllabus, references for building your google documents/ blogs are found on the links. Note that we have a face to face / live link on the 15 of September.....if you are having difficulties with the technology, we will be able to have hands on time in the lab at that time.
